Monday night's performance from Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will cost him.

Head Coach Todd Bowles has decided to bench the $12 million dollar man after initially backing him - even saying he'd be in Sunday's game with the Ravens.

Now, the controversial Geno Smith returns. Smith saw his first action of 2016 when he was subbed in with eight minuted to go in Monday's 28-3 embarrassment in Phoenix.

Bowles said in a conference call Tuesday:

First of all, after the game, it's always going to be status quo because I'm never going to tell the media anything before I meet with my coaches and my GM and the rest of the staff, so everything is status quo until we have our meeting.

Geno hasn't been the Jets' starter since 2014. Throughout his career, many have questioned the 26 year-old's maturity, lack of leadership, and consistency on the field.

Have we forgotten that infamous incident where Smith got into with a former teammate over owed money and ended up having his jaw broken?

Still, Fitzpatrick's dreadful performance this year has left the Jets no other choice for now.
