Featured this Sunday on the WPDH Album of the Week will be Deep Purple's Made in Japan.

Made in Japan is a double live album recorded during Deep Purple's first tour of Japan in August of 1972. The album didn't hit shelves in the United States until April of 1973.

The album was an immediate commercial success, particularly in the U.S., where it was accompanied by the top five hit song "Smoke on the Water." As of 2012, the album was ranked as the sixth-best live album of all-time by Rolling Stone.

The album had a strong critical reception and continues to attract praise.

We will be featuring the single-disc release of the album. The tracklisting is as follows:

  1. Highway Star
  2. Child in Time
  3. Smoke on the Water
  4. The Mule
  5. Strange Kind of Woman
  6. Lazy
  7. Space Truckin'
