A Poughkeepsie man who plead guilty in 1989 to killing his parents and brother, and attempting to kill his sister, is up for parole again in November. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports Brian Britton will once again have a chance to win his freedom should the parole board feel he's ready to rejoin society.

Britton, when he was just 16, commuted this heinous crime after reportedly having a series of disputes with his parents. The Journal reports at first he had told authorities that a masked intruder had committed the crime. Britton is currently serving a 25 year to life sentence at Washington Correctional Facility.

Sherry Shafer is Britton's sister who survived being shot in the head and chest. She is currently a Hudson Valley resident and obviously gravely against her brothers release.

The hearing, his third, will take place the week of November 13th. He must convince the parole board that he feels remorse for his actions. Something he's been unable to do in previous hearings.
