Each week on ‘In Touch’, our locally produced public affairs program, I have the pleasure of talking with individuals and organizations from all over the Hudson Valley. We focus on non-profit organizations and volunteers who are working hard to help make all of our communities better places to live, work, and raise our families.

This week, Leah Hapeman, Shelter Director at the Dutchess County SPCA and Noel Crotone, Director of Development and Community Relations at the Dutchess County SPCA stopped by our studios to talk about animal welfare, what the SPCA is and what it does, and how we as a community can help take care of our animals. We also talked about the various community partnerships the SPCA has and the fact that it is the third oldest animal shelter in the USA, having been formed in 1871.

Leah and Noel also talked about being an open adoption agency, their wish list of supplies needed for the animals, and some special events coming up a little later this year. They do a much better explaining all of this than I do writing about it, so here's this week's interview with the Dutchess County SPCA. If you want to learn more about volunteering or adopting any of the animals, call 845-452-7722.

Each week, we have different non-profit organizations from around the Hudson Valley come in and talk about all that they are doing to make our communities better paces to live. In case you missed any of our past shows, here’s how you can get caught up on this season.
