A Hudson Valley dog trainer is accused of stealing over $100,000.

New York State Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott says 60-year-old Elizabeth McKeon, of Poughquag spent years running her dog training business, 4 The Love of Dogs and Pet LLC, while collecting over $100,000 in workers’ compensation benefits. McKeon is accused of claiming she was unemployed.

According to the Inspector General’s office, McKeon was classified as permanently partially disabled after a 2007 work-related injury while working for Verizon. McKeon allegedly began running a $50 per-hour dog training business in 2010 while reporting she was not working in any capacity.

During the time period, officials say she was observed several times by investigators conducting dog-training activities, was a certified dog trainer, and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.

McKeon was charged with grand larceny, insurance fraud, and fraudulent practices, all felonies. She was arraigned in Beekman Town Court and sent to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond bail.
