Route 84 was closed down this morning in Orange County near the Newburgh Beacon Bridge.

WPDH traffic reporter, Nancy Reamy, is following an incident on Eastbound Route 84 that is leaving commuters scrambling for an alternate route across the Hudson River.

A flipped over tractor trailer carting propane is the cause of the closure. We have no word on injuries on the scene, but because the vehicle was hauling propane, which is very flammable, hazmat crews will most likely need to arrive on the scene before cleanup can begin.

At 6am there was already a considerable backup from the blocked portion of Eastbound I-84 back to exit 8.

Just after 6:30am Nancy Reamy was reporting that the right lane was reopened but backups are getting even bigger with early morning commuters sitting on I-84 all the way to the NYS Thruway.
