Hyde Park Man Sexually Abused Sleeping 11-Year-Old, Police Say

A Hyde Park man is accused of molesting a friend's 11-year-old daughter while she was asleep.

Joseph A. Sucato, 30, was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal contempt and aggravated family offense.

According to a press release from the New York State Police, Sucato allegedly abused the girl in her Hyde Park home. At the time of the abuse, Sucato was under an active order of protection to stay away from the girl and her family.

The aggravated family offense charge stems from a prior qualifying family offense conviction, police said.

Sucato was arraigned in the Town Hyde Park Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $75,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. Sucato's is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday.
