The Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union successfully upgraded its computer systems over Labor Day weekend, but customers are still unable to access their accounts online.

On Wednesday morning account holders at the Poughkeepsie branch on Barnaget Road had questions for staff members, wondering when they would regain access to their accounts online. Members were not given a timeline, but employees assured them that it was currently being worked on.

After converting almost a half-million accounts of nearly 300,000 credit union members, it was expected that all online systems would be back by Tuesday. According to Lisa Morris, a representative for HVFCU, everything was up and running but a system-wide computer issue caused things to shut down again. That problem was quickly corrected on Tuesday night, but an unrelated hiccup to the internet banking system is the reason why it still remains offline to most customers.

As with any data conversion of this size, there are bound to be some hiccups. Morris says that for the most part the upgrade went very smoothly. The new computer system will allow for more flexibility and faster wait times, as tellers will have quicker access to account information.

While customers wait for online banking to return they can visit their local branch or access the call center at 845 463-3011, which has extended hours until 9pm. Further status updates will be posted on the HVFCU Facebook page.

Update at 1:50pm Wednesday: The Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union reports that Internet banking is functioning again. We were able to verify that web and app access are now working for online customers.
