The stand off in Port Jervis has come to an end. The Times Herald Record reports that a man who had held a woman and two children hostage Wednesday afternoon, later releasing them, finally surrendered to Port Jervis police Wednesday evening.
Donald Beach surrendered a little after 6 p.m. after holing up in a house for several hours. Port Jervis police Chief William Worden and city firefighters said a woman had been assaulted earlier. Neighbors in the area said they saw a man refusing to let a woman and two children down the front steps of the house and away from the residence. City police were able to negotiate the release of the woman and children Wednesday afternoon. The woman and the two children were safely removed from the scene without any serious injuries reported.
Officials were later able to convince Beach to surrender peacefully.
