Huge New Shopping Mall Coming To Hudson Valley in 2016

Dozens of new stores and a movie theater are scheduled to be a part of a new "sprawling" outdoor mall called The Loop that is expected to open in 2016.

According to Time Warner Cable, the 650,000 square foot outdoor shopping mall will be built across from the current Newburgh Mall on Route 300 in the Town of Newburgh. The Loop will have plenty of areas for families to relax and kids to play around in. Developers say it will give a "Saratoga feel" to the area. One reason for the planned shopping paradise is the proposed Hudson Valley Casino and Resort that is being proposed right down the street.

Regardless of whether the casino is approved or not, the mall will still be built. Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio told Time Warner Cable that The Loop will bring some desperately needed economic development to the area. The current Newburgh Mall has been struggling in recent years as shoppers have been turning to larger malls like The Poughkeepsie Galleria and The Galleria at Crystal Run.
