A Hudson Valley town received some pretty high praise. Money.com placed the local town in the top 10 in their list for the best places to live in America.

In their 2016 search for the ultimate hometowns, Money.com looked into 60 key factors, including taxes, education, healthcare and more. The website studied over 800 places to come up with their top 50 “Best Places to Live 2016.”

The Rockland County town of Clarkstown placed seventh. The biggest factor as to why the study loved Clarkstown, affordable living in the Hudson Valley with a short commute to New York City.

According to Money.com, “In one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country, Clarkstown’s $360,000 median home price is a bargain— that’s 34% lower than in neighboring Westchester County,” all within a 35 mile drive to New York City.

Artist Edward Hopper went to high school in Clarkstown and the area is still known for art. Money.com also loved the town’s outdoor concert series that goes from park to park during the summer, with each night featuring a different music theme.

“Really, you would never have to leave the town to be able to find something to do,” town supervisor George Hoehmann told the website. “It’s pretty much all here.”

Columbia, M.D. was rated number one, followed by Eden Prairie, Minn., Plano, Texas and West Des Moines, Iowa.
