A Hudson Valley town has been named as one of the wealthiest in America. Bloomberg recently analyzed United States Census data to determine the top 20 most affluent towns in the country.

Hudson finds itself among towns like Key West, Jackson and Breckenridge on the list of most wealthy. The only other town in the northeast is Vineyard Haven out on Martha's Vineyard.

Bloomberg used several factors to help determine their results.

  • Median household income
  • Median home value
  • Percentage of households with $200,000+ yearly income
  • Percentage of homes worth $1,000,000+

According to the Bloomberg report based on census data, Hudson's estimated household income is just over $59,000 while the median home value is $222,000. The percentage of households with an income over $200,000 is 4.9%. So, in other words, almost 5 people out of every hundred make over $200k a year. 2.5% of the houses in town are valued at more than a million bucks.

So not only is Hudson one of the most wealthy, it's apparently one of the coolest too.
