While motor-vehicle accidents remain the leading cause of death for teens between 16 and 19,  a new study shows that New York is the best state to live in for teen drivers.

Teens in New York (are) the best equipped for being safe behind the wheel.

WalletHub released a study that ranks the best and worst states when it comes to safe driving. The report analyzed teen-driving across all 50 states in over a dozen different statistical categories from the number of teen driver deaths to the average cost of accident repairs to state DUI laws. What they found was that New York teens have the best driving environment in the nation.

Overall, New York ranked third overall in safety, second in "Economic Environment" which includes costs of repairs and fines and sixth in "Driving Laws." The combination of rankings makes teens in New York the best equipped for being safe behind the wheel.
