Hudson Valley Teen Gunned Down In Streets, Police Continue To Hope For Help
Local police are pleading for help after a teen was fatally shot. Many witnesses are refusing to speak or gave misleading information, police say.
On Thursday around 11 p.m., the City of Middletown Police Department responded to the area of 17 Wallkill Avenue for a report of shots fired, with a person possibly struck by the gunfire.
Arriving officers were told by witnesses that a man was taken to a hospital in a private car. Despite life saving measures, 19-year-old Coree White Jr., of Middletown died at the hospital.
Detectives reviewed and investigated more than 100 separate leads, but additional information is still needed to identify suspects and arrest the people responsible, police say.
According to the Middletown Police Department, the investigation has been hampered by a lack of cooperation from several witnesses. Other potentially involved people refused to speak with detectives or have provided misleading information about the incident.
Police are working closely with the victim’s family in hopes it will help develop additional leads and suspects.
Residents with private surveillance cameras are also encouraged to contact police if they have video of the shooting.
