A tragic story reported last week has gotten even more tragic as a 16-year-old from the Hudson Valley faces murder charges.

As reported by the Hudson Valley Post, Jiwan Coleman of Spring Valley was arrested late last Tuesday, June 28th, after allegedly beating and robbing an 18-year-old man and putting him in grave condition. The victim, Ruben Suchite Torres, died this weekend from the injuries sustained in the robbery. He had reportedly been returning from work at the Nanuet Hotel and Restaurant when he was hit in the head with a rock as part of an assault and robbery. Torres was a student at Spring Valley High School.

Jiwan Coleman, who was previously facing charges of 2nd-degree attempted murder and 1st-degree assault has now, according to News 12, had his charges updated to murder. He is being held in Rockland County Jail on a bail set at $3.5 million.
