Learning how to drive for the first time can be never racking. Especially around the busy streets of New York. Police say a 17-year-old girl learning how to drive went off the road Thursday and drove her Honda Civic into a nearby retention pond.

Town of Chester police Chief Daniel Doellinger said that neither the girl nor her mother, who was in the car with her, were hurt. Chester police and the Chester fire department responded after a resident called in the accident, according to the Times Herald Record.

Chief Doellinger blamed the accident on driver inexperience. No tickets were issued.
