Star Wars fans will be coming together on Saturday to help make Christmas a little brighter for kids living at the Children's Home in Poughkeepsie.

With "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opening in just over a week, fans will be using their excitement and energy to help out a great cause.

This Saturday, December 12, fans, droids and characters from the famed movie will be getting together to celebrate the release of the new movie while donating gifts for the Children's Home of Poughkeepsie.

The event will take place from Noon to 3pm in center court at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. There will be "Star Wars" giveaways, costumed appearances by members of the 501st Legion dressed as characters from the Star Wars universe and even actual droids from Hudson Valley Comic-Con roaming around and interacting with everyone in attendance.

Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite character for a chance to win "Star Wars" gift baskets. Prizes will be handed out in three categories including 3 and under, 4 to 6 years old and 7 to 12 years old.

All participants are asked to simply bring a gift for kids living at the Children’s Home in Poughkeepsie. Toys are welcome, but presents for older kids such as gift cards are also much appreciated.

Tickets to see “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be given away at the event, as well as mall gift certificates and other prizes. Stay tuned to The Boris & Robyn Show on 101.5 WPDH for more details.
