A local middle school student celebrated his national Scrabble championship win by appearing on Jimmy Kimmel on Friday.

Noah Kalus from New Paltz Middle School and his Scrabble teammate took on Jimmy and his sidekick, Guillermo. It was the Jimmy Kimmel Live 8th Annual Scrabble Tournament. After winning the North American Scrabble Tournament last Sunday, the New Paltz student and his partner seemed quite confident that they would win against the talk show host. During the match, guest Jennifer Connelly even stepped in to try and help out Jimmy, but it was no use.

After challenging a word that Kimmel and Connelly spelled with three "A's" in a row, the young duo won the game. Kimmel did not lose gracefully, throwing a dictionary across the stage and calling the young Scrabble champs cheaters.  Of course, it was all in good fun and made for a hilarious segment.

Klaus and his teammate took home the Scrabble championship belts and a Microsoft tablet for winning. In case you missed it, you can watch the full segment below.
