A police officer in the Hudson Valley pleaded guilty to drunk driving following an intoxicated car crash in March.

Nicholas P. Kozack of Stone Ridge was charged with a DWI after driving off the road and flipping his vehicle onto its roof. At the time of the crash, Kozack was 36-years-old and employed as a police officer for the Kingston Police Department.

As previously reported, Kozack missed his turn while traveling on Lucas Avenue and drove off the road. He crashed into a large metal sign which caused his vehicle to flip onto it’s roof.
Kozack was transported to Kingston Hospital where he was treated, released, and charged with DWI.

On Tuesday in Ulster County Court, Kozack pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in connection with his drunk driving. A clerk from the Ulster Town Court confirmed the guilty plea to Hudson Valley Post.

Kozack was also sentenced to pay $1,000, attend a victims' impact panel, and install an ignition interlock device in his car for a year.
