Hudson Valley Nursing Home Counselor Sexually Abused 6 Patients

A former Hudson Valley nursing counselor was convicted for sexually abusing six patients with traumatic brain injuries.
Jacky Stanley, 50, of Kingston, a former employee of Northeast Center for Special Care in Lake Katrine, was convicted for sexually abusing six residents at the facility, each of who were at the facility for rehab after suffering traumatic brain injuries, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
All six testified in court about Stanley’s abuse.
“Jacky Stanley used his position as a caretaker to commit reprehensible and disturbing acts of abuse. The bravery shown by his victims at trial will help ensure that he will never be able to terrorize vulnerable New Yorkers again,” said Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
Northeast is one of the largest rehabilitation centers in the country specializing in acquired traumatic brain injury. Northeast offers care and rehabilitation to individuals who have suffered traumatic brain injuries caused by stroke, motor vehicle accidents, falls and other catastrophic events. Stanley was employed as a counselor at Northeast and was responsible for helping new residents acclimate to the Center.
Stanley’s duties as a counselor included managing the residents’ social environment and ensuring that residents participated in their required programs.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, between July 2014 and February 2015, Stanley used his position to gain access to the residents and forcibly performed sex acts on them, including oral sex on three victims, one who was asleep at the time.
Stanley faces eight to 25 years in prison when sentenced in July.
