Hudson Valley Middle School Girls Disciplined for Sexting

A group of local middle school girls have been caught texting sexually explicit photos of themselves to their friends.

According to the Daily Freeman the girls, who are as young as 13, all attend Marlboro Middle School. Joseph DiLorenzo , the school's superintendent, says the inappropriate photos were sent to friends and then shared with others.

Other cases of underage sexting have been prosecuted by district attorneys across the country and even brought charges of child pornography. In Marlboro, however, there will be no charges, just an opportunity for education.

The school has invited a representative from the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse to talk to sixth-graders about the dangers of sexting. DiLorenzo told the Freeman that the school has taken the situation "very seriously."

The controversial star of MTV's Jersey Shore, Nicole Polizzi attended Marlboro Middle School while growing up in the Hudson Valley. In fact, Polizzi claims that her nickname "Snookie" was given to her at the middle school after she became the youngest one of her friends to kiss a boy. Snookie's wild behavior on MTV had been criticized as being a bad example for younger girls who look up to the reality star as a "role model".
