A local 17 year old is competing to be the final American Idol. The 15th and final season kicked off January 6th with Seacrest back as host and J. Lo, Harry Connick, Jr. and Keith Urban rounding out the judges panel.

Harrison Colden attends Clarkstown North High School and had been in a band since sixth grade reports LoHud. He was also in a 2013 edition of 'The Sound of Music' at the Westchester Broadway Theater.

Colden attended the January 13 auditions in Philadelphia and took a risk by performing an original song he wrote. All three judges were impressed and he's moving on to the next round.

Sure, Harrison Colden is talented but it's his 'ladies man' grandfather that stole the show. He was there to offer dating advice and hit on all the young ladies. An American Idol fan YouTube channel recorded and posted the vignette that tells the whole story.
