A Hudson Valley man is dead after being hit by a train early Tuesday morning.

According to News 10 the unidentified man was hit by an Amtrack work train just before 2am on Tuesday.

The train was traveling through Columbia County when it struck the man near Station Road in the Town of Stockport. A call was received by authorities about the incident, which was followed up by sheriff’s deputies and Amtrak Police.

When they arrived at the scene officers discovered the man who was lying on the tracks near the trestle in Columbiaville. The incident is still under investigation.

In February a woman was killed in Saugerties after taxi cab was hit by a train at a crossing. The taxi driver and another passanger were also injured in the incident.
