Some people should stick to getting their meat from the grocery store. A Dutchess County man is in the hospital after being shot by another hunter who tried to kill a deer that was already dead. And this all happened within a few short hours of hunting season's official kickoff on Saturday.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reported that a Wappingers Falls man spotted a deer while hunting in Stormville. The only problem was that the deer was already shot and killed by another man from Beacon. While loading the dead deer onto a cart to remove it from the property, the first hunter saw it moving and thought the deer was alive. The hunter from Beacon was shot multiple times in the hand and buttocks before the first hunter realized his mistake.

Deer and bear season continues through December 7. If you live near the woods you may want to wear something brightly colored until then.
