A Hudson Valley man was convicted of murder from a 2013 shooting. Police say the suspect and victim had a long running dispute.

A Westchester County Jury found 26-year-old Pedro Delacruz, of Yonkers guilty of murder and criminal possession of a weapon, in the shooting death of Victor Fitzgerald.

According to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, On July 21, 2013, Yonkers Police responded to a report of multiple gunshots being fired and a man being down in a parking lot behind 80 Riverdale Avenue.

Responding officers found Fitzgerald lying on the ground unresponsive. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. He died from internal injuries and massive bleeding.

The Yonkers Police Department says Delacruz approached Fitzgerald on a walkway between 80 and 100 Riverdale Avenue in Yonkers and shot the victim twice, striking him in the chest and the lower back.

Delacruz was is remanded at the Westchester County Jail. He is due to be sentenced on May 25. He faces 15 years to life in prison.
