A Hudson Valley Man was charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a victim who was riding bicycle.

In Westchester City Court, 34-year-old Bobby Jackson, of New York City was charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence, all felonies.

According to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Charles Smith was riding his bicycle in Mount Vernon in April when he was spotted by Jackson.

Jackson started jogging after Smith. Two blocks later he allegedly fired multiple shots, one that hit Smith in the back.

The bullet entered the lower right side of Smith's back, ripping through his kidney, colon, liver and a major artery to the lung. The victim then fell off his bicycle and smashed the left side of his head on the concrete pavement. He died minutes later.

Officials say there were a number of pedestrians near the shooting, who were all in the line of fire.

Jackson plead not guilty to the charges. He’s due in court on June 7th. He faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted.
