According to police, a Hudson Valley man who was impaired by drugs tried to flee on foot before attempting to grab the officer's sidearm. 

Well, if you're driving without a license, and impaired by drugs, the last thing you should do is push the officer, try to run, and attempt to grab the officer's gun.

Keith McLaughlin, 34, Wurtsboro, NY was being interviewed by State Troopers after they stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation, when they learned that his license was suspended. It was at that point that McLauglin allegedly pushed the officer and fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers attempted to take McLaughlin into custody, and he physically resisted arrest and attempted to grab the sidearms of the officers, police said.

McLaughlin was arrested and charged with Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon (2 Counts), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Unlicensed in the First Degree, and Driving While ability Impaired by Drugs.

McLaughlin was sent to Sullivan County Jail on $25,000 cash bail, or $50,000 bond.
