A Hudson Valley man was in a standoff with police for hours on Monday afternoon.

According to a report by Spectrum News, police activity was focused on the Super 8 motel in Kingston on Monday, January 2. That's where a man allegedly threatened officers and aimed a gun at them, all in an attempt to get shot.

The man's threats were characterized as a suicide attempt. According to reports the man was yelling at officers to shoot him. Around 5pm things escalated as the man fired the gun inside the motel room and jumped out of the window.

That's when police took the suspect into custody and brought him to the hospital for observation. Luckily, there are no other people reported injured.

The standoff allegedly took place for hours on Monday afternoon, but thankfully it all ended with no fatalities.
