Hudson Valley Man Admits to Driving Over Gas Station Worker

A Hudson Valley man admitted to fatally running over a gas station worker and leaving the scene.

On Wednesday in Orange County Court, 22-year-old Milton Galdamez-Pena of Newburgh pleaded guilty to the felony of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, in connection with an car accident that killed a gas station employee in the City of Newburgh.

Galdamez-Pena admitted that around 4:30 p.m. on July 30, he drove a car over an employee at the Shell gas station on Broadway.

After the car hit the worker, Galdamez-Pena placed the car in reverse and backed the car up and over the employee. He then go out of his car, looked at the severely injured worker and drove away without reporting the collision.

“There is no excuse for leaving someone you have seriously injured, except to get that person help, or to report the incident to the proper authorities,” District Attorney Dave Hoovler said. “This defendant admitted failing to take actions that both the law and common humanity require.”

Galdamez-Pena is scheduled to be sentenced on January 16, 2018.
