A Hudson Valley man is accused of trying to rape a female victim, sexual abuse, and robbery.

Wednesday, State Police from Cortlandt were sent to investigate a reported sex offense that occurred at the Town Line Motel in Cortlandt. Police say it was discovered that 26-year-old Erik Contreras-Diaz, of Mount Kisco brought the victim to the motel. He then allegedly made unwanted sexual contact with the woman and tried to rape her.

On numerous occasions, she attempted to contact police for assistance and Contreras-Diaz is accused of preventing the victim from making contact with authorities by forcefully taking her cell phone.

The victim was able to exit the motel room and after a brief struggle contacted the police for assistance.

Contreras-Diaz was charged with attempted rape, robbery, and sexual abuse, all felonies.

Contreras-Diaz was located by police and arraigned before the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail. He is due to appear in the Town of Cortlandt Court on July 29.
