A movie made right here in the Hudson Valley is set to debut on HBO on March 10th.

The Times Herald Record reports Mi America was filmed in Newburgh and tells the tale of a detective who is investigating the murders of five laborers. Along the way, he encounters numerous roadblocks including anti immigrant sentiment. The five migrant men weren't just murdered, they were beaten, shot and then had their bodies ditched according to the plot description on IMDB.

Six months later, the bodies are found in an abandoned industrial complex near the river. Newburgh serves as the backdrop for the film, so keep your eye out for familiar landmarks thoughout the 125 minute movie.

The film was written and directed by Robert Fontaine who moved to the area from Brooklyn when he and his wife were looking to escape the city. It began shooting in the summer of 2013 and made its original debut in the Fall of 2015. It will now be seeing new life on HBO.
