A local man is accused of throwing a large kitchen knife at his wife, causing a deep cut that required multiple stitches.

On Thursday around 9 a.m., State Police responded to the report of a stabbing victim at Catskill Regional Medical Center.

The victim told police that she got into an argument with her husband, Carols Torres, 33, inside their Liberty home.

Torres is accused of picking up a large kitchen knife and throwing it at his wife. The knife hit the woman in her left shoulder, causing a deep cut that required multiple stitches, police say.

Torres was found at home and arrested. He was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. An order of protection was issued to the victim.
