Shoppers at Wal-Mart were crying tears of joy when they learned a local high school student had raised money to pay off their layaway tabs.

Goshen High School junior Thomas Giordano raised $1,438 to pay for the balance of random strangers' layaway bills at the Walmart in Wallkill, NY. According to The Times Herald Record, the money was donated through "Pay Away the Lay Away Inc.", a charity that was started in 2011 by former Goshen student, Lee Karchawer.  The nonprofit matched Giordano's donation to double the amount of holiday cheer.

Faculty members from Goshen High were on hand to cheer as customers were told of their good fortune.Giordano told The Times Herald Record "It's nice to get stuff, but it's a lot better to give."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Great job, Thomas!
