Students at John J. High School in Wappingers Falls were under a hold-in-place this morning and will now be sent home early, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.

All students were sent home at 11:45 this morning and while there hasn't been a reason given yet for why the hold-in-place was necessary, the police report that the students weren't under any immediate threat. If that had been the case, the school would have been placed under a lockdown.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the hold-in-place was to significantly reduce students in the hallways, but that classes were still being conducted in the classrooms.

Anytime there is anything involving our schools and our children that mentions the phrase hold-in-place, we all stop and hold our breath. As this is a developing story, as we get more information on this situation, and possibly the reason for the hold-in-place, we will provide updates.

Other area high schools have not been impacted by this event this morning.
