Today a Hudson Valley girl is $1 million richer and a whole lot more famous than she was yesterday.

Grace Vanderwaal of Suffern is the winner of the 11th season of "America's Got Talent" after consistently blowing away audiences and the show's judges with her ukulele performances.

After narrowing down the ten finalists to just five in front of a live television audience on Wednesday night, host Nick Cannon called a visibly nervous Vanderwaal up to the front of the stage along with four other acts chosen by telephone and internet votes.

As more contestants were eliminated in dramatic, reality TV fashion, Vanderwaal remained on stage. Ultimately the 12-year-old singer and ukulele player made it to the final two along with a couple of clairvoyants who have been receiving praise from the judges for their incredibly realistic illusions.

When the final announcement was made it was Grace Vanderwaal that took the top prize in a vote that was the closest in the show's 11 season history. Just 1 percent separated Grace from the Clairvoyants.

Vanderwaal receives $1 million and a headlining gig in Las Vegas. Billboard magazine reports that those shows will happen at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Oct. 27, 28 and 29.
