A road that many Hudson Valley travelers agree has the most dangerous potholes is getting $11.9 million from Governor Cuomo for much needed repairs.

On Thursday the Governor announced that work will begin in Rockland and Orange Counties to finally resurface a road that local residents say is long overdue for repair.

In a recent unscientific survey we took of the worst potholes in the Hudson Valley, many listeners expressed their frustration when driving on the Palisades Parkway. The northern part of the highway, which runs through the Hudson Valley has deteriorated to a point where it has become a safety hazard.

That is all about to change as nine miles of the Palisades that run through Haverstraw, Stony Point, Highlands and Woodbury will now be completely transformed. The work includes diamond grinding the surface, repairing the concrete and new layers of asphalt.

During the work there will be some lane closures and detours, but that's a small price to pay for a shiny new Palisades Parkway. The entire project should be done by the end of this year.
