Had it not been for the heroic efforts of a local off duty fire captain, this story could have had a much different ending.

LoHud reports Capt. Robert Smith from the Yonkers Fire Department rescued a man and woman from a pickup truck that had hydroplaned into the the Saw Mill River Sunday. At approximately 6pm he observed the truck as it lost control and ultimately ended up on it's side partial submerged, with the driver and passenger stuck.

to use a rock to get through the windshield and get the pair to safety. Other passerby's stopped to help as well. Reportedly both people involved did not suffer serious injury.
