A dog found itself in a slippery situation this weekend, but luckily a quick-thinking Hudson Valley fire company sprung into action.

The New Hackensack Fire Company responded to an emergency on Friday after being alerted to a dog that was stuck out on the ice in the middle of a large pond. The fire department and an ambulance were dispatched just after 4pm to Gold Road in the Town of Wappinger.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered the dog out on the ice, but due to fears of thin ice, were not able to get out to reach the animal. Rescue ropes were attached to a large basket and sent out on the ice. The dog was lured into the basket and safely pulled from the pond.

Due to the quick thinking of the New Hackensack Fire Department, the dog was uninjured and safely returned to its owner.
