A Hudson Valley man and his family are lucky to be alive after they all survived a plane crash in Dubai. After the crash landing, the plane exploded!

Wednesday, an Emirates Boeing 777 with 300 people on board crash landed at Dubai International Airport. The plane skidded along the runway and later erupted into an intense fire.

The plane left Trivandrum International Airport at 10:19 a.m. Wednesday headed for Dubai.

According to NBC News, an engine was torn from the right wing of the plane as it scraped to a halt, forcing passengers and crew to evacuate before the aircraft blew up.

282 passengers, including 6 Americans, and 18 crew members all survived the crash and escaped the plane through inflatable slides.

Hudson Valley resident Jerin George and his family were among the survivors.
“We noticed something wasn’t right when the landing started taking place,” the 22-year-old from Spring Valley told the Mirror. “The engine blew away right after landing. As soon as everyone got out, the plane blew up. We are all safe and sound inside the airport now. Thank God for saving our life from a tragic incident.”

The cause of the accident is not yet known. CNN aviation correspondent Richard Quest believes photos of plane indicate that the front landing gear collapsed.

A firefighter, Jassim Essa Al-Baloushi, was killed while putting out the fire.
