Some college students in the Hudson Valley are on a three-day journey to Albany. They're traveling by foot up Route 9W.

The march started on Sunday at SUNY New Paltz and is scheduled to end on Tuesday when students reach the capitol building in Albany. The march is organized by a group calling themselves New York Students Rising. The journey is being dubbed a "no tuition hike" and will end with what organizers are calling a "message for Governor Cuomo."

The group is asking for a tuition freeze and full reinvestment back into the SUNY and CUNY school systems. It's not clear how many students are making the journey, but photos and videos posted to Twitter show just a handful of students making their way up Route 213 yesterday.

On March 4 some SUNY New Paltz students participated in a statewide walkout. The New Paltz Times reports that students left classes in protest over tuition increases of $300 per year over five years. The walk to Albany is the culmination of a planned "20 Days of Action" led by students who are protesting the tuition increases.

What do you think about the students' stand against Albany? Are you in favor or against the tuition increases proposed by New York State?
