Hudson Valley College Revokes Bill O’Reilly’s Honorary Degree

After being accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct, and sexual harassment, a Dutchess County college has revoked Bill O'Reilly's honorary degree.

Back in April it was announced that Bill O'Reilly would not be returning to Fox News. The announcement came after an investigation revealed that O'Reilly paid over $13 million in settlements to five women who claimed he sexually harassed them.

O'Reilly graduated from Marist in 1971, majoring in History. He has long been referred to as the College’s most accomplished alumni. He received his honorary degree from the college in 2001.

Since the news broke regarding the alleged sexual harassment, Marist has remained silent, until now.

Marist posted on their website the following:

Bill O'Reilly has been accused of engaging in multiple acts of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment of women in the workplace. Mr. O'Reilly has denied these allegations. To many, his reported payments of tens of millions of dollars and dismissal by Fox News lend credibility to the allegations against him. Any form of sexual harassment or abuse is deeply contrary to the values of Marist College. The Marist Board of Trustees has therefore revoked Mr. O'Reilly's honorary degree.

Prior to this announcement, students and alumni voiced their feelings on social media asking the school to denounce the former student.
