Overall, the Hudson Valley is a great place to live and work. Yes, there's a lot of traffic and taxes are too high but I never thought we'd end up in the company of cities like Chicago and Cleveland.

Cities Journal has released their list of top 15 cities to "run away from." And this is a list that I take some offense to. Poughkeepsie has has been named the #3 city in the entire country to avoid. Let's take a look at the rest of the top 5:

  1. St. Louis, MO
  2. Chicago, IL
  3. Poughkeepsie, NY
  4. Cleveland, OH
  5. East Los Angeles, CA

I have a sneaking suspicion the author of this blog has never taken the chance to visit Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Valley to see what we have to offer. Whether it's the Rail Trail, Walkway Over The Hudson, the many great bars and restaurants or even all the amazing heritage sites the area has to offer, Poughkeepsie is an area that is worth sticking around. That may have not been the case a few years ago, but it's a new ball game in Poughkeepsie.
