A groundskeeper at a Orange county cemetery died Tuesday, following a lawn mower accident.

A man who spent more than two decades caring for Cedar Hill Cemetery died Tuesday after he became trapped under a riding mower he had been using to cut grass on a hillside.

Firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of a man trapped under a mower found Franklin Rose, 78, unresponsive beneath the tipped-over machine’s roll bar.

Rose died a short time later at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, as reported by The Record Online.

Rose was not wearing his seat belt and had no visible injuries. An autopsy will be done to determine if he died of injuries from the accident or was stricken with a sudden medical issue.

Rose worked at the cemetery for about 25 years, and mowed that same hill many times before.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
