It's likely that some big Hollywood stars have been spending the summer in your hometown without you even knowing about it.

The Hudson Valley is home to some of the most prestigious summer camps in the country where the rich and famous send their children for summer fun. Hollywood Reporter recently highlighted several prestigious summer camps across the country where many celebrities learned arts and crafts while forging early connections with other future showbiz legends. So if your kid spent their summer sitting in the town park being babysat by some teenager playing PokemonGo you might want to consider taking out a mortgage next summer and giving them a chance to make it big in Hollywood by attending one of these celebrity-filled camps:.

Camp Rising Sun has two locations in the Hudson Valley, one for boys in Red Hook and another just for girls in Clinton. The camp is open to kids aged 14-16 and works on a scholarship system where attendees are encouraged to share what they learn with their communities in lieu of paying tuition. We suspect, however, that your kid's chance of getting in depends on who you know. Notable alumni of the camp include Pete Seeger, Neil Diamond, "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky, late comedian Greg Giraldo and many writers and producers of shows like The West Wing and Law & Order.

Elizaville's 275-acre Camp Scatico was founded in 1921. The retreat is also the site where Camp MTV was filmed in the late 80s. The camp costs around $10 thousand per child and is divided between boys and girls. Scatico boasts alumni such as actress Julie Klausner, A&M Records founder James Diener and even singer Leslie Gore.

Stagedoor Manor is a camp in Loch Sheldrake with a veritable who's who of famous alumni including Zach Braff, Natalie Portman, Robert Downey Jr.,Lea Michele, John Cryer, Mandy Moore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Ian Black and many others. The three-week sleep-away camp costs around $6 thousand per child and focuses mostly on acting. Competition for roles in camp productions is said to be pretty fierce, with real Hollywood producers attending the camp's shows to scout out future talent.

Surprise Lake Camp is located in Cold Spring and is where comedian Jerry Stiller, rocker Gene Simmons, Larry King, Walter Matthau and playwright Neil Simon all spent their summers as children. The Jewish camp costs just under $8 thousand for a full session.
