A Hudson Valley bus monitor has been arrested on charges after slapping two boys who are diagnosed with autism while on a trip to The Center for Spectrum Services. 

Shirley Ellison, 73, of Pine Bush was arrested and charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, and with harassment.

Ellison is accused of striking the two boys, ages 8 and 13, with her hands during a bus trip from Pine Bush to The Center for Spectrum Services. She was supervising the children at the time of the incident.

She was arraigned in New Paltz Town court, and is due back in court at a later date.
