Hudson Valley residents have been confused by the appearance of water, in droplet form, around the region. The result has been accidents, delays and even power outages.

An additional two inches of rain is possible by the end of the day on Wednesday.

It started in the pre-dawn hours this morning, with rain reported in parts of Orange and Ulster County. After 6am the rain moved into Dutchess County and continued to fall. While our area has been suffering from drought-like conditions and the rain is a much-needed relief... for some it's made for a difficult day.

The Times  Herald Record reports a significant rise in accidents this morning, with minor fender benders on Route  84, the Thruway near Tuxedo and Route 17 in Bloomingburg. Driving conditions can be slicker than usual after a dry spell, as built-up oil from the road sits on top of the rain water before being completely washed away.

In Dutchess County over 500 people were without power this morning. The Poughkeepsie Journal says the outage has mostly affected residents in the upper Red Hook area near Kerley’s Corners.

Rain is expected to continue today as showers and thunderstorms move in this afternoon. An additional two inches of rain is possible by the end of the day on Wednesday.

How are you dealing with the rain? Has it caused any difficulties for you today? Or are you just happy to have the much-needed relief from the dry weather?
