A new beer made entirely of organic ingredients makes its Hudson Valley debut this Friday.

Smart Beer, based in New Paltz, is the brainchild of Gabriel Heymann, who is passionate about eating organic and living healthy. Heymann wanted to have a beer that he could drink without compromising his health-conscious lifestyle. When he had a hard time finding one, he started brewing it himself.

Smart Beer uses sustainable, organic ingredients in all of their beers. Because of the limited availability of those ingredients, it's more of a challenge to brew organic beer. A challenge, however, that Heymann has met head on:

Organic Golden Ale is Smart Beer's flagship beer. It's clean and refreshing with a very satisfying flavor thanks to herbal ingredients that have been added to the recipe including orange peel and licorice root.  It's got a smooth finish and is extremely refreshing. In keeping with Smart Beer's philosophy, the beer is made from organic barley, wheat and hops and is non-GMO.

You can sample the beer for yourself this Friday, November 6. Smart Beer will be hosting a tasting at Double O Grill in Wappingers Falls from 6pm to 9pm. And on November 21 they will be hosting a launch party at Snugs on Main Street in New Paltz with live entertainment including Sonic LoveBot and Upstate Rubdown. The party starts at 9:30 and music starts at 10:30pm.
