You'll never guess how many of your neighbors in the Hudson Valley are millionaires. The number of wealthy residents in our area is on the rise.

The Democrat and Chronicle reports that the amount of New York State residents who claimed earnings of over $1 Million in 2012 rose 16% from 2008.

Locally, Dutchess County has the largest amount of residents claiming over $1 Million in taxable income at 263, a 33% increase from 2008. There are 42 less millionaires in Orange, although that county does boast the most residents in our area earning between $200K and $500K.

The rise of wealthy residents in our area could be attributed to high-income transplants from New York City and Westchester who've been moving to The Hudson Valley in greater numbers over the past few years.
