Police responded to a 911 report of a fight in progress between two stable workers. 

On Wednesday evening just after 8:00 pm, Saugerties Police responded to HITS for a 911 call reporting a fight in progress between two stable workers.

Upon arrival, police found a 37-year old victim of an assault, bleeding from his arms, back, and head. The victim sustained a laceration to his arm, and contusions about his head and face from being punched and cut with a sharp object.

The perpetrator identified as 38-year old Hugo Cuaya of Mexico, fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics, and transported to the hospital for further treatment. 

Saugerties Police K-9 patrol assisted in a search of the area in attempts to track down the suspect. Police located Cuaya hiding out in a room at the Wenton Motel at 3127 Route 9W in the Town of Saugerties.

Cuaya was taken into custody without incident and processed at police headquarters. Cuaya was charged with Assault second-degree, a Class D Felony. He was arraigned and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.

He is scheduled to be back in court a later date.
