An early morning high-speed chase ended with a U-Haul crashing into a Hudson Valley Home.

Police say the home now has a U-Haul shaped hole in it as well as a damaged natural gas line thanks to some bungling criminals.

Town of Ramapo Police say they received a call from a resident around 3am on Monday to report that three men had allegedly taken two motorcycles from his property. On their way to the scene an officer spotted a U-Haul driving north on Remsen Road and decided to pull it over.

As the police officer approached the U-Haul, the driver sped away on Route 306. After attempting to evade police, the U-Haul turned into a neighborhood, eventually missing a turn on Zuba Lane and crashing into a house.

The driver of the truck ran away, but two other suspects were found in the back of the U-Haul with the two stolen motorcycles. Karl Lapeine, a 19-year-old resident of Spring Valley has been charged with third-degree felonies of grand larceny and possession of stolen property. he is also facing a misdemeanor charge of Criminal Mischief. The other suspect, a 16-year-old from New Hempstead, faces the same charges.

The driver has still not been located. Emergency crews responded to the scene and addressed the damaged gas line. There were no injuries reported by police.
